Re: HB 3639 - SB 1581
Call me an optimist, but I don't think its over yet. The NRA and TSRA have been known to pull a rabbit out of a hat. I think there is more going on behind the scenes.

Re: HB 3639 - SB 1581
I agree. I cannot figure out the reason why they did that. Based on what I heard today, it doesn't look good for SB 1581. I suppose if there is a special session, Gov Perry could broaden the scope to include campus-carry (and I don't think the two-thirds rule in the Senate applies during a special session).Ameer wrote:More and more it looks like they shouldn't have taken campus safety out of SB5 until SB1581 passed both houses and went to Perry.

Re: HB 3639 - SB 1581
It is possible to offer amendments on third reading in the House, but it requires a two-thirds vote. I am not sure campus-carry has that much support (I hope it does).RPB wrote:SB 5 THIRD READING NOW

See? Gotta hear SB 1581, before third reading of SB 5 ... (I think????)
Let's offer amendments to SB 5 on third reading if we need to/can ....
