I did a little homework and quick math.
There have been 203 million checks since '98. Of those, 1.5 million have been denied (through Oct. 2017). That's a 0.72% denial rate. If we apply the same percentage to Black Friday's numbers then 201,542 were approved. I would suspect the denial rate is lower now as most of the ineligible folks would have already weeded themselves out over the years.
You also have all the TX LTCs that made a purchase Friday that didn't have to have a NICS check. I don't know if other state's license holders can bypass NICS.
Permits also count into the NICS totals. 29% (73 million) of NICS checks ('98-'16) have been for permits. I doubt many permits were submitted on Friday.
1.16 million (0.57%) checks have been for explosives (through '16).
No matter how you slice it, that lot of guns in one day.

I wonder if there is a way to find out how many were approved or declined? I suspect a great majority are approved.
