Day-160 Got a phone call from DPS this morning. My background check is done . Now it is off to the printers and can take up to two weeks I asked why they had not sent it to the printers before the background check came back. One would think that it has already been 160 day's lets go ahead and get it printed then if some thing negitive comes back we can just shread it. YEA RIGHT!!! More waiting.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Send in the letter that Mr. Cotton set up. Maybe we can all get the same hearing date.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I did that three weeks ago. I contacted both state reps and got two calls from DPS in a ten min. time span. Both told me we are waiting on your background check. So the state rep's seem to be losing their pull.Jmbmjb wrote:Rovin_htx,
You need to e-mail your state rep. Give him your app number and tell how long you've been waiting. I e-mailed my rep on August 7 and got my license on August 14. Worth a try.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Yes. Check out the General texas discussion forum page here. There is a down load that Mr. Cotton set up. Put in your info and send it certified. He told me that it would take about 7-10 days to get your license.ktaAggie10 wrote:ya for those of yall that mailed your application in March and recieved them in May or June, although that's still ridiculous please dont be too upset. I mailed mine in on March 13 and my application is STILLLLLLL being processed. This is wayyy beyond ridiculous!!! thank you Harris Country Background Checkers!! I email and call the tx dps and harris county atleast twice a week but it appearantly has done no good :( I cant stress to you enough as to how incredibly frustrated I am. Anybody else in my position? anyone else had trouble with Harris County BCs?
Good luck I'm sending mine today.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I spoke to Mr. Cotton yesterday at the range. I told him that I'm over 150 days. He directed me to go to the General Texas CHL Discussion and down load the form letter. Input my info, and send it certified mail. He told me that within 7 to 10 day's I should have my license. I did that today and will mail it tomorrow.
Thank you Mr. Cotton
I'm passing this on to all that are waiting over the 120-day mark. You have to give them the 30 days to pass it on. Then 90 day's to process your application. That is 120 days.
Good luck and I will let you know if this works.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Yep. I guess that the State rep's. don't have any pull now. I contacted two (2) state rep's. and received two (2) calls from DPS in 10 min's. time. Both said the same thing. "We are waiting on Harris county to finish the background check."carbon-14 wrote:wrote representative and he forwarded me this response from TX DPS:
"Currently your application is delayed due to the Harris County Investigation Report. As soon as it comes in I will issue the license."
anyone ever heard of this?? same thing as a background check?
I'm worried that they will find that my prints or my photo are no good. Looking for the next thing to blame the delay on.YabuUS wrote:So part of the delay is due to the computers being down? Wonder when they will start blaming the long delays on swine flu?
I'm thinking of writing the Lt. Gov and the Gov's office, and every media outlet in the state. I guess if your going to go down you should go down big

Re: March 2009 Applications
Day-141 I received two (2) calls from DPS this morning. I guess if you contact two state reps. you get two calls. Both told me some of the same stuff I have been hearing. "We are waiting for your back ground check to be completed" One told me that several DPS officers were working back ground checks for harris county. The other told me that there is only one officer doing the background checks.
Both were really nice and understood why I was upset with the system. They both started getting a little miffed when I asked who I could contact to get things moving. I finally asked who the top dog on the food chain was in DPS. Steven C. McCraw is the new director. He has been there for about two weeks. I guess if I can find how to contact him, maybe I can get some answers. Start at the top and work your way down. I'm tired of getting the run around.
I told them that they are breaking the law and they dismissed that.
Just sit there and take it like a man!!!

Re: March 2009 Applications
Day-133 I called two state rep.'s and got answering machines.
Day-134 I heard back from one rep. and e-mailed my information to them. We will see if they come through. The lady seemed to care, unlike the DPS lady. I still have not heard from the other state rep. (Looks like they will lose my vote)
Day-135 still proccesing application, and hoping that they don't decide to kick something back like finger prints or photo. (you told on us so we will find a reason to make you wait longer)
I hope it gets done soon

Re: March 2009 Applications
Day-131: The Quest continues. I spoke to a rep. at DPS and She told me that they are still waiting on my BC. I asked her who I could contact about the delay. She said that I should contact my state Rep. so they could increase the budget so they can hire more people.
I am starting to get
So Congrat's to all that have been approved. I guess my might get here before Christmas.

Re: March 2009 Applications
I requested information as to why it was taking so long to get a background check done in Harris county. I asked who we could contact. This is the e-mail I got back
"Unfortunantly, there is no contact information to speed up the process. Due to the huge increase in applications the process for background investigations is taking longer than normal. " (I hope they buy this)
My reply
"Then maybe you should hire more people. If you increase the amount of applications, then one would think that you increase the amount of fee’s."

Glad to see some folks getting their license. Little depressing knowing I'm in Harris county and you know how efficient they are. I'll just sit here waiting. I now understand the term " Moving at the speed of Goverment. "

Re: March 2009 Applications
Wow that seems like good news. 74 day's in is that from the received date or the pin date?
I just received my pin the other day. If they go 60 day's from my pin date I'm looking at mid July.
