I know exactly how you feel. I had jury duty for Harris County (downtown Houston) two months ago and felt naked without my carry piece. It's a two block walk from the jury assembly room to the courthouse and it's not so bad walking over there escorted by the baliff but after you are dismissed and you are on your own walking the two blocks back you feel vunerable. Like you said - some very sketchy" characters hanging around the front of the courthouse.angrypistols wrote:Fellow Citizens of Bexar county,
I am in San Antonio and got a summons for Bexar County jury duty yesterday, and the whole ordeal was quite a pleasant experience actually.
In the summons, there was two VIA bus vouchers, which I decided to use and not have to worry about driving downtown and finding a parking space! I have had my CHL and been carrying for about 2 years, however, as required, I left my gun at home. Not so much in the morning, but in the later afternoon when the crowd seemed more ‘sketchy’, I realized how much of a 'security blanket' that actually carrying my weapon provides to me. Have I become dependent, my wife thanks so?
Overall, I felt good for doing my civic duty, but I still missed that comfort that a CHL provides!
For anyone else who has jury duty in our county, I would definitely recommend taking the bus, and if you do, make sure that you get on an “Express” bus. I didn’t and it took me about an hour and twenty minutes to get to my car because there was about 30 stops between downtown and the park and ride!
