Good luck finding a place to shoot the steel cased. The ranges here in Houston I go to will only accept brass.NcongruNt wrote:I wish it weren't steel-cased. A good find though. I'm going to have to think about this one for a few days. I bought my future FIL a Bersa Thunder .380 for Christmas and need to run a few hundred rounds through it first to check its reliability. Ammo is non-existant these days, so I may have to go with this to get it ready by Christmas.austinrealtor wrote:Anyone still need .380? Been noticing last few days on Cabelas web site a link to "bulk .380" for sale ...

Fat chance - can't use the old "hanging chads" excuse this time.chamberc wrote:I'm not sure that will happen until the results of that election are reversed.Tireshred wrote:...we need the pricing to go back to pre-election.

Re: ammo on sale
The last person I dealt with at Carter's Country I-10 @ Campbell wasn't what I would call knowlegable. When I was looking around last month for a Para GI Expert I went there because they had it listed on their sales ad in the newspaper. When I asked the man behind the counter if they still had one I was told they didn't carry it. I told him they had it in their sales brouchure he said he didn't think they had any. I asked him to show me where they kept the Para's and sure enough; there was one on the top shelf with their "sale" tag on it for $599.99 which is actually MSRP. Academy was selling them for $499.99 if you could find one. Wound up getting one at the High Caliber at GRB for about halfway in between the two prices. You would at least think these guys would know what is on their "sales" brochures.sbb wrote:While you may think that the prices have been hiked, it ain't so. Large box stores that have hundreds of locations are able to purchase at much lower prices than a company that operates only four locations. Don't get me wrong, I love to save money as much as the next guy. I prefer to purchase at a location that deals mainly in firearms and has knowledeable staff instead of a clothing and camping store that just happens to sell ammunition.geoelectro wrote:Yep, I've noticed that. But like you say, they have it!Kevinf2349 wrote:Carter's Country (Pasadena) has all caliber (380 only in aluminum). They seem a lot more expensive than Academy or Wally world, but they seem to have a lot of ammunition...probably because they are hiking the price

Re: ammo on sale
One reason I don't use them is because the two ranges I go to won't let you use anything but brass; they inspect your ammo before you shoot.geekwagun wrote: I did not buy any of the monarch 9mm or Blazer - I have never put anything but brass ammo in my M&P, is there any reason I should not use the steel or aluminum cased ammo?

Re: ammo on sale
The Academy's at Westheimer and Voss, I-10 and Bunker Hill and 288 & 518 hand plenty of ammo yesterday in everything but .380. Price on WWB .45ACP was $22.95. They also had Remington 110 packs of .45ACP FMJ but I didn't see the price.
There was some .45ACP WWB 100 count boxes at the gun show at GRB for $55.00.

Re: ammo on sale
I assume your just referring to AK & AR stuff. Try finding .45ACP; Top Gun didn't have any target loads last Friday and I got the last box that Memorial had - an over-priced box of Monarch for $26.99 (50 RD). SD rounds don't seem to be a problem but neither Academy nor Carter's Country has target loads whenever i"m there.Tireshred wrote:I'm seeing the .308, AK and AR stuff at Academy back on the shelfs not behind the counter, I really think we're seeing the last of the hoarding.
