Reading all these great memories from you "distinguished" types, reminds me of one of my favorite books I've ever read. It's about how you're NEVER too old to learn something new or keep striving. It's called "Life is So Good" by George Dawson, who was born the grandson of slaves and learned to read for the first time in his life at the age of 98. My own grandfather learned to use a computer and send emails in his 90s - while suffering from a degenerative eye disease that left him all but blind.
I ain't there yet (not even close), but I hope and pray I'll still be learning and striving well into my "old age". Maybe by then we'll have CRGL "Concealed Ray Gun License"
