Never witnessed a fatal hit & run, but I've witnessed a few nonfatal ones. If I have a passenger, they get kicked out to check on the victims, and I go get plates and relay description/directions to LE. I don't have first aid skills beyond the Boy Scout merit badge 20 years ago, so I stick with the part I know, which is driving, observing and reporting.Nintao wrote:It would be tough choice between staying with your friend or chasing after the car. My grandfather was seriously injured in a hit and run, and died from his injuries two years later. Very few people (including first responders) have the medical skills to identify, much less treat the most severe injuries he suffered outside of a well equipped trauma center. The only thing any passerby could have done at that point was to call 911 and try to gather information on the driver who left the scene.
