So, if they dropped that requirement, they could reduce the fee by $20, and still make $3.50 more than they currently are. Could be an angle to work.Charles L. Re: CHL Licensing Section of DPS Destroying the CHL
I spent a few weeks working for an abrasives company, and a lot of the employees there have no discernible prints left from handling sandpaper all day every day. According to a few who have retired from that company, it takes a few months to get clear prints back.sjfcontrol wrote:I doubt that a lifetime of typing would affect fingerprints at all. However, seems to me I've heard of problems with people who handle certain citrus (bartenders who cut up lots of limes, for example) having their prints etched off by the citric acid.

Re: CHL Licensing Section of DPS Destroying the CHL
We rarely do it during business hours on a weekday. For most of us in small towns, a trip to the city on a weekday would mean taking a full day off work, and spending an extra $30-50 in fuel alone. Even a minimum wage earner is losing an extra $58 by taking off work.rmr1923 wrote:i don't really see it as that big of an issue, as far as driving all over the state and whatnot. people travel from small towns to big cities at LEAST once a year for holiday shopping, why is it that big of a deal to do it once for your CHL? even if you had to do it again for the renewal, that's 5 years away.
So, $90 for the class, $140 to the state, $40 for gas, $20 for the prints and $60 lost wages makes it $350 base price for a new CHL. Not exactly affordable for someone trying to make ends meet in a lousy economy, especially when they can easily eliminate $120 of that by either doing away with the prints or accepting prints from other sources.
