Re: Who is coming across the border
Talking at work today to a couple of people that have family close to the border(5-8 miles). Only thing they have heard about are hearing explosions and gun fire, the other guy said he was told some of the kids(Teenagers I guess) from our side are going across into Mexico to be recruited by the drug cartels.

True but then again the Govt did post signs saying to keep out nothing good going on in there.Purplehood wrote:I sure would hate to be a Hispanic-looking American citizen anywhere along our border when untrained and uncouth individuals do form their adhoc Border Patrol posses...

Re: Who is coming across the border
I could support that if it was not populated with hate groups and if they engage with out first being fired upon they will defeat the purpose and become the bad guys even if it was drug smugglers they shot, they have feelings too.

Re: Who is coming across the border
So how about the people of those county's join together and form their own "Paramilitary" squads and patrol and engage these smugglers. I am sure there are many vet's in this country that would be more then happy to volunteer some of their time. I am sure then the Govt would deploy troops to stop the Americans from doing anything.

Re: Who is coming across the border
I worked(past) for a big name company that farmed out most of the work to 3PL (3rd party labor) in other words temp agencies well those 3pl's did a very poor job of insuring the people they employed were legal. They pretty much accepted documents as long as they appear correct, for about $150 an illegal could get fake docs. These were the ones I was refering to, but you also made a very valid point about the cash side of it.LarryH wrote:Many of them work strictly for cash and don't pay income tax. Back when we had non-citizen lawn workers, one of them told my wife that he made something like $30K a year and his wife made about the same cleaning houses -- strictly cash, no tax, so their take-home was nearly the same as mine.suthdj wrote:Illegals with their false id's and SS#'s pay into the Govt good for Govt, they also work very cheap good for big bussiness. The situation is likely similar for day laborers. If a company is dishonest enough to hire people "off the books", and there are certainly some that do, that's another bunch of $$$ that isn't subject to income tax.
I'll admit they do pay sales tax.

Re: Who is coming across the border
Another camera in the air or otherwise wil not do anything but take pictures, unless we arm it with some .50 cals or rocket launchers then maybe it will do some good.duns wrote:What I find surprising is that there isn't a sufficient fleet of manned aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to continuously monitor the borders. Maybe most of them are in Iraq and Afghanistan and the threats coming across the US borders are not considered of sufficient importance to bring some of them back home?

No NO NO I am talking about the homes the UN throws up in poor countries. It is a small one room hut basically. I agree no U.N. Troops in US.mr surveyor wrote:personally I wouldn't want the UN or any other bunch of foreign thugs on our side of the boarder. I would consider them on par with the current hoodlams crossing the borders now.

Re: Who is coming across the border
If we were to place 1 person every yard along our 2000 mile southern border it would require about 10.5 million people (3 shifts / 8 hours)Provide each with a U.N. home built side by side and 3 meals a day. I''l bet you can find enough Chinese that will be more then happy to stay there and guard our border better then our current money hole system and they will never ask for a hand out. Ya I know it has holes but it would work.mr surveyor wrote:suthdj wrote:It's amazing that the ancient Chinese Can build a wall 3000 miles long, a couple stories high, and wide enough to drive a car on and here the "Great America" can't or won't.redlin67 wrote:Good reason to build the great wall of America. the ancient Chinese wouldn't meet OSHA or EPA standards.... then there's the labor union thing, permits, zoning regulations, Bureau of Indian Affairs studies, more permits, more studies.....
ever wonder how we built the "Big Inch Pipeline" during WWII?
