I wouldn't think of it as that. The Remington hats I have the first is brown waxed cotton and the R and writing is brown. The other is camo but is so dirty from when I used to survey that you'd have to be next to me to read it. As far as living in north Idaho and when I was living in East Texas a camo hat never receives a second look.

About 4 years ago my wife and I was in Sportsman's Warehouse and I saw a guy wearing a shoot me first vest and navy blue BDU pants. I told my wife "How much do you want to bet that he's carrying?" So we watch him for a couple of minutes. Sure enough he leans over to look at something on a shelf and there was a print of what looked like a 1911 at his 4:30-5:00 o'clock. That is one of a couple of reasons I don't wear a shoot me first vest or carry that far back. I don't put my holster past the 3:00 o'clock position.

If he wasn't wearing the vest I wouldn't pay too much attention to him. As for me I do wear outdoors hats and I do wear a hat that has the Remington R on it with the work Remington written in small letters under it.
