I hope it's not considered "bashing" LEO to say they should be subject to the same rules as CHL when they're off duty.
If someone with a CHL is subject to restrictions that don't apply to off duty LEO, that's prima facie evidence those CHL restrictions are arbitrary and capricious. After all, if they made sense, they would also apply to off duty public servants.
In the wake of McDonald and Heller, I hope Texas will do the right thing during the 2011 session and make the same gun/carry laws apply to an off duty LEO and an off duty waitress with a CHL.
