If you can and it is helpful, try 8.5x14. I did this so when I'm at BassPro it gives me a little more room from where the paper hangs so I'm not shooting at the ceiling further down range.Mike from Texas wrote:I can see this costing me lots of money and ammo.
Guessing these are to be printed on standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper?

Re: Great target for training...from me to you...post your s
I finally got out to BP. It was a great Father's Day. Except that my kid hasn't said anything about it yet.
Anyway, this was a great exercise. I didn't do near as well as I thought I would or would have liked to, but it was good. I shot 100 rounds in ten sets. Here's the scores.
2,5,9,2,4,4,7,7,2,6
I brought 200 rounds, but on the last couple targets I started getting extra holes in my paper. There was a guy in the lane next to me with a 9mm and a laser sight that was jumping all over the place. I don't know if it was him or the woman he had with him that was shooting at the time, but I figured it was about time to finish up there anyway.
There were several holes that another millimeter or two would have given another 3-6 points on several of the targets. This was a great exercise that I'll be using more in the future. Thanks again for the links!
There is also apparently a new rule at BP. Before going in we were sharing some of the ridiculous things we've seen or heard of people doing when coming in to shoot at a range. One story I mentioned hearing at a CHL class from the instructor. Afterwards, upon exiting the range today the same guy I was talking with asked if he needed to lock me up. I said, "No", but the guy up front might get a little upset if he didn't. To which, he said, "You have a CHL, right? I said, "Yes Sir" He said to go on and have a nice Father's Day. Cool!

Thanks for the link. I printed one of the .40's and made several copies at work on 8.5x14 paper to give me plenty of space to clip the paper on the target thingy at the Grapevine BassPro. I'll try and get there this weekend and follow up with a score. Hopefully, there will be a score. If anyone happens to be there and sees someone shooting dots, check to see if it's me.texasbuilt wrote:I saw those dot targets on a site a while back and just couldn't remember where.. Well after about 2 hours of searching here is the article:
http://www.lawofficer.com/news-and-arti ... o_win.html
"Dots Shooting
The classroom moves to live-fire range. In the early 1980s, we were introduced to “Dots.” Friends at the FBI challenged us to try out a system developed by a group of dot shooters. Caliber-specific dot targets are posted at face height, with a shooting line three yards from the target. Ten dot sets are printed on each target. Each dot set looks like a triangle, with a dot at each corner. Only one shot is fired on each dot set, for a total of 10 rounds. If the shooter hits one dot in the triangle, they score one point, hit two for two points, and if you shoot through the center and touch each dot, you get four points. The total possible score is 40. Many shooters score zero, and this is only at nine feet. Of all exercises we’ve used to improve trigger control, dots have made the greatest positive impact. Time limit per target is one minute or less. Most officers will shoot too fast. To download dot targets, visit www.LawOfficer.com/dots."
They have 9mm, .40 and .45 you can print for free.
The rest of the article is a fairly good read.
