I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if it were d). Maybe that's why us poor civilians have to pay so much for one. Lot's of manufacturer's will give a low ball bid to win a big contract.G.A. d) Kimber tendered a lower bid than Glock?
Who knows.
With that said we are left with "B", so I guess the Kimbers were better than the Glocks...![]()

Did I say that? Wow!The Annoyed Man wrote:Uuuhhh, just spitballin' here..... but isn't 1911, as in "Model of 1911," in the 20th century? I've never seen a 1911 pistol manufactured prior to the year 1900, let alone prior to 1910 - the year JMB finalized the design.C-dub wrote:I'm not too interested in the 1911's, but there have been a few that look nice. Re: Glock Haters?
Now, that's what I'm talking about!!! Even my wife likes those.03Lightningrocks wrote:All kidding aside, I don't think I could say I hate any gun. There are some I love more than others, but I love all guns and I really love that there are so many different guns to choose from. That is the reason that my range trips involve many different guns to fire. Sig's, Glocks, Kimbers, Kahrs, Smith and Wesson.... revolvers... semi autos.... various calibers... They all rock in my humble opinion.
I typically find that when someone claims hatred for a particular gun it is mainly due to a lack of skill or ability to master that particular gun to the point of actually being able to hit anything with it.Secondly, when I hear someone proclaim that a gun is junk because it is a Glock, I am instantly notified that the person making said proclamation has very limited knowledge of firearms and is not to be taken seriously from that point forward. I am certain that a few folks here and there have gotten a lemon in just about any brand or style of firearm, it doesn't qualify as evidence that all weapons of this make or model are junk until the majority of gun owners are making this statement. I don't have the evidence, but I bet Glock sells more firearms than most manufacturers in existence today and this means that there are bound to be more "lemons" than in a manufacturer selling half as many guns. I have also noticed more Glocks hanging off the belts of Police officers than any other brand or style also. This in itself is telling us all something.
As for choosing a gun based on looks, nothing, in my humble opinion, can touch the looks of an early model Smith and Wesson Revolver. I have always loved the looks of revolvers over any semi-auto.
Here is an example of a beautiful hand gun, Colt ... Wish I could afford them. Starting bid is over 4500 bucks!!!

Re: Glock Haters?
And an AK design makes it what it is. The most manufactured assault rifle in the world. It is cheap to make and easy to use and it goes bang every time in all conditions. Maybe in time, the Glock will become the AK of handguns. It won't win any beauty contests, but a lot of people have them for some reason.68Charger wrote:I personally don't like Glocks for their design. Perhaps if they had a diff design with the same mechanical functionality, then that would be awesome. However the design makes a glock a glock. I also don't like their fanboys either. Dealing with them is like dealing with a Apple fanboy. Don't get me started there.. (E.G. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0p ... r_embedded )

Re: Glock Haters?
The only other semi-auto handgun I've ever shot was a Ruger .22. I can't say I love my two Glocks because I still few them as tools with a specific use and did not buy them for their looks. I have shot several of my dad's revolvers from .22-.44mag. and even a couple black powder with lead balls. Those might have been .50's. I don't know. If I ever get the opportunity to shoot a 1911 I might find that I like them too.
I'm not too interested in the 1911's, but there have been a few that look nice. I think there are several that were made in the 19th century and early in the 20th that are just plain ugly. To have a gun just for its looks I would go for some of the older colt revolvers. My wife also likes these. We've seen a few sets for sale, but couldn't afford them at the time. Maybe the next time we will.
