Yeah, not only is it the light, but I think that whole situation has more to do with the cycles of the refresh rate. Something about 60hz and 120hz rates that mess with our sleep or eyes or something.

Re: Kindle pros and cons

I've been reading "The Second Amendment Primer" hard copy and thought I'd get the electronic version to be able to read at work during breaks. I was a little confused when it asked for a shipping address, so I backed out of that since I didn't want another hard copy. Is that normal for it to ask about a shipping address for an e-book?

Re: Kindle pros and cons

Picked up my 4GB Paperwhite today and have already figured out how to load the pdf file of the CHL-16 2015-2016. Now to figure out any other cool things it can do.

Re: Kindle pros and cons

That brings up a couple more questions. It's been mentioned that there are 3gb and 4gb models. About how many books is this? If it is full and I've downloaded the books to my computer and then uploaded them to the Kindle, can't I just delete a book from the Kindle to load another one and then re-upload it later from my computer if I want to read it again?

Scroll down a little and you can see the comparison of current Kindle models here: https://www.amazon.com/b/?node=66697020 ... dflcpo5n_e
I guess I'll have to verify which model.

Re: Kindle pros and cons

xd9sc wrote:I waited a bunch of years before buying a Kindle because of three things: too expensive, too heavy to hold for long periods in one hand, and you needed a separate light to read them in the dark.

Those problems are now all fixed; I got a Kindle Paperwhite (~$120) last year. Good machine.
I think this will be just a regular Kindle. I was thinking about being able to read in bed without disturbing the Mrs. and without having to wear my reading glasses, which I have to with my phone. I don't have an iPad. You really ave to have a separate light source to read in the dark? That seems odd.

Kindle pros and cons

I have an opportunity to get a Kindle and know nothing about them other than they are for reading books. I've been a good boy at work and this is one of the options for a gift. The other things don't really interest me at all.

What are the pros and cons and how is book availability for them? How does the book get into the thing? Do they have cellular or wifi or do you plug them into a computer after downloading the book?
