I don't mean this to sound insulting or anything, but you and Joe must have been on the cheer squad in high school! You two are without fail, always encouraging folks here! It makes us realize we're not alone. My hat's off to the two of you....

Thanks rdhetrick. Just trying to save some people some of the aggravation I faced when I went through the process, and pass on to the newer people what the more experience members of the forum passed on to me. The issue was in doubt for me too(it's what I felt), as my "record" wasn't by any means spotless. :tiphat: :thumbs2:

I recently submitted my CHL along with a friend's. He believes that he is eligible, but I am not so sure. He had a possession felony that was reduced to a class A misdemeanor and he received deferred adjudication. It was 7 years ago. Is he still eligible?
he should be . A misdemeanor must be older than 5 years to be eligible .
:iagree: See P.3 of Handbook; GC 411.172 ELIGIBILITY (a)(8)

Note: there are exceptions to this. Please review GC 411.172 carefully with him.

Re: I Got a Denial Letter, Now What???

I agree. Please give Charles a call.

Here is a "SUMMARY OF 2009 LEGISLATIVE CHANGES TO CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSING ACT" that's on the DPS website, that may help, I hope. It's from the DPS website:
