Re: March 2009 Applications

Well, there he goes. The Postman. Still no plastic. :grumble At least he left me the 5 X 1 HDMI switcher from monoprice.com. :clapping: Installing that and reprogramming my Harmony One should keep my mind off the CHL. For a while. Maybe. We'll see.

Changed on a Saturday even!!!! What? Saturday? They work on the weekends? The must have gotten an emergency grant from FEMA funding a request for overtime hours or something!

But what ever the reason, I'm happy for you! And all the other folks that's been approved over the past 7 or 8 days!
I noticed several posts last Saturday about app complete - license issued so I guess maybe they do work on Saturday. Don't know if that's a recent change as a result of pressure or if they always have.

And in my joy and elation : I forgot to congratulate the others who are finito.

Re: March 2009 Applications

It's really good to see so many folks getting their plastic. Congrats to all. And those of us whose license went to the printers last week will get to walk Wallymart before Halloween, anyway

Very strange how DPS works.... I also had to submit missing info on 6/4 and it went back to processing 6/13.... I now have my plastic but you applied a month before me! :headscratch
Strange indeed. I had to send new photos in May. They were received on May 28. Out for Harris County background check on June 1. And here I sit desperately wanting to make a Wally World walk :???:

I've done that couple of times by forgetting to change the month from Jan to my birth month.

dwdog wrote:Harris County does not want anyone to have a CHL. I have other posts about stolen firearms. I spoke with a gun dealer yesterday who had some of his firearms stolen a year or two ago. He said if they are used in a crime, and Houston gets the firearms that I will eventually get the firearms back, but if Harris County does, they will refuse to return them to me. The exact thing happend to him. He even had a buddy who worked for Harris County, but his buddy didn't have enough weight to pull.
Who in Harris County doesn't want us to have CHL? The sheriff, the DA, the county judge, the county commissioners, the JPs, who? And how do you you connect that thought to the sheriff's department not returning guns recovered from robberies? And how does that influence the DPS having only 1 officer doing background checks?

Noooooo fingerprints were denied. Have to retake them, needless to say I am leaving work early today.

Does anyone know how much that will slow down the process?
If it's like my bad photos it seems to have only added a week. I mailed the new photos last Friday and I checked online just now and it says Processing.

If they pull birth certificates from your county of birth I may have another problem ahead. My father spelled his middle name Cleatus and blessed me with that for a middle name. I went all the way through high school spelling it that way. Dec, 1957 prior to enlisting in the Navy I ankled over to the Denton County courthouse and got a copy. I looked at it and said "Aunt Helen (she was the aunt of a very good friend of mine) that's the wrong spelling". She checked the big old book again and said "nope Myron, that's how it's spelled here." So, I spent the next 45 years or so spelling my middle name Cletus. A few years ago I started working on my genealogy (what old retired geezer doesn't  ) so sent for a copy again. Guess what? Now my middle name is Cleatus again.

Re: March 2009 Applications

Just found the forum this morning. And I'm waiting on my "detailed letter". Found out late Friday online my app is incomplete. Called this morning and the young fellow told me the photos that were taken at the CHL class at Carter's Country in Harris County were too light to print. He suggested I go to Walgreen's. Looks like I'm basically starting over. And through no fault of mine nor DPS. :banghead:
