I appreciate your help with me understand it correctly. And of course, you can damage a magazine
that is too long by seating it too forcefully, makes perfect sense.

Wouldn't the magazine just hang out the bottom of the magwell, but still work?
On the other hand, Officer's (shorter magazine) may not work in a full-sized 1911 because it is too short
to reach all the way to the breech? (is breech correct term here? some other term? --sorry)

isn't this backwards?
