Re: State Park carry?
Here's a fairly good and semi-reasonable question for you: Why doesn't the Castle Doctrine apply when we are in our water vessels? Works in cars... why not boats? We have the right to protect ourselves when traveling... even without a concealed license... I think this should apply to watercraft as w...

Re: POLL: What Caliber Do You Carry The Most?
..."need a moderator"???... Hey man, don't look at me. I don't do much in "moderation." I carry my 629 in a shoulder holster, my CS9mm on my hip, and my Airweight mod.37 in my right front pocket. Since my wife has been talking a lot to me about exercising "moderation".....

Wasn't that in one of the Police Academy movies??? Whatever happened to Steve Gutenburg... He's still around and making movies http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000430/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I think that scene was with Tackleberry and Kirland, but could be mistaken. Edi...

Re: Texas Teacher Stabbed to Death by Student
I am a a retired music professor (and CHL) at the university where Todd Henry did his training years ago. He was a fine musician, an excellent student, and a very sensitive and caring person. Everyone liked him. He was, however, not one who would be interested in any handgun or defensive training (i...

Re: Need your advice
Rod, I had a thought that your original request for advice can also be related to those who find trepidation in carrying a semi-auto in condition 1. Here's a thread discussing it: http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=23319" onclick="window.open(this.href);r...

Re: Need your advice
You don't need to beat your handgun into submission. Modern revolvers have a transfer bar that moved between the hammer and the firing pin when the trigger is held to the rear. If the trigger is not pulled, the transfer bar is out of the way, and the hammer cannot contact the firing pin. Load up al...

Thanks for the replies
Thank you Mojo & Wec. It's in a Desantis Nemesis OR just bare in the pocket. I am considering an experiment: I am going to take my (hard) rubber-headed hammer to the range and hold the gun on the target, then get a friend to whack the hammer (in the closed position). That should reveal something...

Need your advice
Question for you guys: Is it safe for me to carry my model 37 S & W airweight in my front pocket with ALL five rounds loaded? All of my buddies are leaving the chamber in front of the firing pin blank (for safety). Four rounds ain't much. Wonder what you think. I have a CS9 and I can carry 8 sho...

Re: April 2009 Applications
This is such nonsense... you guys should already have your CHLs and this room should be empty. And my closets should be clean, sox sorted, and underwear all in the same drawer. "Should have," "could have," "might have,"... reminds me of my golf game!!! Dealing ...

Re: April 2009 Applications
Plastic came this weekend and today I did the Wally-walk. Went fine. The weight of the pistol (CS9 in my right front pocket) pulled my pants a bit low but my Hawaian shirt covered it. I was three months and a week on the wait. Be patient and know that you'll get it (soon?) someday. There IS hope. Fe...

Took the class on April 18. Mailed it in on April 20th. Got my license in the mail Aug. 1st. Three months and one week or so. AND... learned we are going to have our FIRST grandchild... all in the same day! Life is good. See you guys around. I'll be looking for a bulge in your pants... Oop...

Re: April 2009 Applications
Thanks, USA1. Kept my nose clean all my life and lived the same place for the last 27 years. That probably helps. Living in "Prison City" might also have attributed on the relatively quick background check. They know how to process this kind of thing pretty fast I would think. Yes, I'm in ...
