Re: July 2009 Applications

Well, one month after sending it off, I got my fingerprint card back.

The Deputy did it with the machine, which printed his ID # on the card, in the signature box. I imagine that this is standard procedure and good enough for court and sending folks to prison.

But it's not good enough for DPS. They want him to sign it in ink as well. Oh well...

joe817 wrote:As long as we're on the topic of fingerprint cards & fingerprints(my next to favorite topic to fret about, lol), I took my class last Saturday. I had applied online and in it was 2 DPS f.p. cards.

When it was time to get fingerprinted at class, the fingerprint guy looked at both of them, called the instructor over to him, and asked if he had an FBI f.p.card as he was experiencing rejections because one wasn't an FBI card.

Now before you start getting antsy, I can't believe that what is supplied by DPS would be rejected because of the f.p.cards...I'm just passing along what I heard.
Now you've done it! ;-) Though it would be a "creative" solution to an increasing backlog...

welcome ,....both methods of payment are acceptable .
but i understand not wanting to take the risk .

BTW..what county are you in ?
Hi usa1, thanks for the welcome.
I wondered if it might be the form that was out of date, rather than the instructions, but, as you say, why take the risk for the sake of one day?

Hutchinson County, right up in the Panhandle.

Edited to add: USPS reports that my package was delivered this morning, so now the waiting really begins.

Re: July 2009 Applications

Newbie here. I passed my test Saturday, got my fingerprints Monday and sent the application off, certified, return receipt, Tuesday. I would have mailed it Monday, but while the instructions said that a personal check was OK, the form said that it had to be a cashier's check and I didn't want to take the risk.

My pack (from our instructor) had one state and one FBI card. The deputy messed up the state card, but had spare blank ones (our Sheriff is pro CHL), so that was OK. It was electronic fingerprints, but printed out not wired to Austin. Now I get to wait.
