besides the obvious platitudes that one should hold and/or test fire a gun before they buy it, general opinions "revolving around the brand names" is what i was looking for. thanks for the info....it looks like most prefer, or at least have used, HK's. This says something to me in and of itself. I'm not knocking Walthers, to be sure. but that P30 looks reeeaallyy interesting.austinrealtor wrote:This is one of those broad questions that really needs a lot of follow up info about you and what you're looking for in a gun. Your question revolves merely around brand names, and each of us has brands we like and dislike. For me, all three brands HK, Sig, Walther are top-notch and I doubt you'd go wrong with anything from any of them. But you REALLY need to at least hold each potential gun in your hands and find out if you like it and it fits your hands well. Better yet, fire each gun as a range rental.
But, to play to your question, if I had to rank those three brands it would be a tie between HK and Sig with Walther coming in 3rd. But again you won't go wrong with any of them. HKs and Sigs are pricey, with Walther being slightly less expensive usually.
You really need to try them out for yourself.
Honestly, I'm having a bit of trouble overlooking the Sig 229 since I've been shooting Sigs for years. but, it may be time to step out of my comfort zone..
