I told my son-in-law he may want to check out a Kimber extended mag for his P938.

Re: SIG Sauer P238 Raffle Win -Range Report
Earlier in this post AndyC1911 mentioned that Kimber magazines and SIG magazines are interchangeable for certain models. I purchased a Kimber Micro .380 magazine to test along with the factory SIG magazine today in my first trip to the range with the P238 .380. The Kimber magazine worked just fine, though to insert it fully I have to depress the mag release. Once I do that it actually seats more easily than the SIG magazine, which requires a healthy palm bump.. Even doing that twice it came unseated after my first shot. Other than that little problem the gun test fired with no failures with either magazine. I fired three different ammo brands and types, including some Hornady 90Gr FTX Critical Defense I purchased from mrvmax. The other two were Lockd 'N Loaded Ammo Incorporarated 100gr FMJ and 2A Warehouse 95Gr TMJ re-manufactured. The 2A ammo was definitely peppier than the other two. I don't have a chronograph but the pistol definitely snapped quite a bit more than with the other two ammos. The Kimber mags are less than half the cost of SIG factory mags. I have another Kimber mag on the way. I'm going to remove the grips to see if I can determine why the Kimber stops about halfway in.

Re: SIG Sauer P238 Raffle Win
The only raffle I ever won before this one was for a free dance lesson when I was 18, but to get it I had to sign up for 5 more. Even back then the shysters were working.03Lightningrocks wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 6:57 pm Every time I see this topic pop up I get jealous. I never win raffles.

Re: SIG Sauer P238 Raffle Win
The Kimber magazine fits and cycles perfectly, with the exception I have to depress the mag release to seat it. The factory mag hangs a-bit and I have to tap it to seat with my palm, so it may be a breakin issue. Definitely like the cost of $21 free shipping for the Kimber factory mag VS $44-50 for the SIG factory mag. The true test of course will be at the range when I get the chance to go. Thanks for your suggestion.AndyC1911 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 4:57 pm Something interesting to note:
I found out last week that the Kimber Micro 9 (9mm) 8-round magazine fits the P938 perfectly, so I ordered one off eBay for $30 shipped - and blow me down, it fits/locks perfectly. I'll shoot it before carrying it, naturally, but I was wondering if there might be something similar for the P238 you have...
Much simpler to buy a mag that already fits/locks in - I hope yours does.

Re: SIG Sauer P238 Raffle Win
Is that the Kimber mag in the photo? If so what is the tape for? I found a Kimber Micro .380 7 round factory mag for $22. The photo comparisons look the same, so I think I'll will try it.AndyC1911 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 4:57 pm Something interesting to note:
For the 9mm P938 I have, I'd converted a Sig P320 8-round magazine 3.5 years ago to get an additional round:

SIG Sauer P238 Raffle Win - Range report
I won a raffle for a SIG Sauer P238.380 from Academy in December (it's actually a gift card) and have been looking for one ever since with no success. Quite some time ago when we were looking for a .380 for my wife she narrowed her choices to this pistol and a Glock 42. I wanted her to get the SIG, but she chose the Glock. I enjoyed shooting the little SIG, but wouldn't have purchased one had I not won the raffle. I had almost given up looking until things settle down for gun sales, but I had an idle moment this morning, so I took a look on Academy's website and found one. Only one in stock at Pearland West Academy store. I have been there and done that with Academy only to travel to a store and discover they don't do a good job of accurately reflecting inventory on the web. BUT low and behold I got there and there it was in the display case. Clerk said it hadn't been there long and it had no handling wear so I snapped it up. The SIG catalog lists the Academy model with contrast sights, but they are actually equipped with night sights front and rear. The only thing I can do at home is check the basic functions and trigger pull. There is some take up on the trigger, but the let off is crisp with no over travel. The pull is less than desirable on my Wheeler gauge at almost 8 lbs, but it doesn't feel that hard when I pull it with my trigger finger. I don't know what options there are for adjustments other than honing like a 1911. This photo is from Academy. I will try to get to the range sooner than later to see how it shoots and give some details here. BTW The only other thing I've ever won was free dance lessons at an Arthur Murray studio when I was a kid.
