Re: Thinking about a compact .45 for concealed carry

Ok, think I might be getting the XD within the next couple weeks.

Just sold my Sony Alpha A350 on ebay. After shipping it and fees, should be able to cover the cost of the XD45. Now... if the customer would pay me, we'd be all set. ;)

I'll let y'all know...

I understand... To quote someone famous, "if mama ain't happy, nobody's happy." :thumbs2:

So back to the firearm discussion, what draws you to the S&W over the XD? Different features or something subjective like it just feels better in my hand. Personally I like the "feel" of the XD and it has a 13 round capacity but I'm not sold yet, that's why I'm asking questions. Right now I'm leaning toward the XD but I hate buyers regret. Does anyone have anything bad to say about the reliability/quality of the XD series?

Larry
I like the S&W only in the area of looks. It's a lot 'prettier' to me. It has a bit of a 1911 look to it (including the thumb safety), which my eye likes a lot.

However in regard to features and feel in my hand, the XD wins hands down (wish I could find one to shoot, no one's renting them around here). I like the way it feels in my hand much better, and I like the fact that it can hold up to more shots for less reloading when out at the range. It's knocked the PT145 out of contention in my book, so far.

Won't work... she's the one who does the bills. Can't sneak it past her. ;)

Re: Thinking about a compact .45 for concealed carry

Spent some face time with the Springfield XD-45 4" today. As much time as you can have without shooting it.

I REALLY like it.

One I like even more is the S&W M&P .45. That sucker is niiiiiiice! :)

Saving to pay for a wedding, so this little beauty has to take a back seat for now, but I will definitely revisit at a later date.

So what did they have to shoot at the range Sunday?
Nothing I felt like spending the money on for the rental fee, honestly. Oh well.

Shot my Sigma 9mm mostly. Did a little plinking with my P22, and my Fiance's .38 special, and my buddy's Ruger .45.

I think I need to get my 9 worked on. My shots were all close together, but they were all low of the center, even though I had the center perfectly in the sites. Might be that I'm still not used to the heavy trigger, not sure.

Re: Thinking about a compact .45 for concealed carry

Annoyed,

The more info I read on the .40, the more I am seeing what you have talked about in your post above regarding the round. I'm leaning away from .40... and sticking to the .45 idea.

Heading to the range with a buddy of mine today (I hope), and will be looking to see if they have the XD or the PT for rent.

Re: Thinking about a compact .45 for concealed carry

I'm broadening my reach here... now considering the XD-45 compact as well as the PT145. They're the front runners at this point.

Wondering about .40 vs. .45 too...

High end of the budget is $550. Would prefer not to get anywhere near that though. That's why I am heavily leaning toward the PT145. It runs about $350 (tops) that I've seen.

Ouch, just checked the prices on that bad boy... beautiful gun, but way out of my price range.
