Re: April 2009 Applications
Well I just checked the mail and we will have another person doing their Wally Walk tonight. The wait is finally over. By the way they said they mailed it on the 29th but the postmark was 9-2.

Re: April 2009 Applications
Yes this is a good thing. By what we are hearing I suspect the second half of the year will produce more apps than the first half. At this rate in two years everyone will be armed.

Re: April 2009 Applications
I received this letter from the DPS after sending a letter to the Governor's office.
The Department is in receipt of your e-mail to the Governor’s Office regarding your application for a concealed handgun license. We regret the delay in processing you license. During the time your application was submitted, we received an unprecedented increase in applications; we received an average of 12,700 applications per month through the first six months of 2009, compared to an average of 8,700 applications per month for 2008. The bureau hired over 50 temporary employees to assist in alleviating the backlog. Thanks to those individuals, we are now back to the point to entering new applications into the system as they arrive.
We regret the inconvenience this may have caused. Our records indicate that your license was mailed on August 29, 2009. It is our hope that you receive your license by September 10, 2009. If you have not received the license or if you have any further questions please feel free to contact Jan Coffey, Manager, Concealed Handgun Licensing Bureau at jan.coffey@txdps.state.tx.us.
Sincerely,
Steven C. McCraw
Director

Re: April 2009 Applications
Just got off the phone with DPS. Told me my license is out for printing. Sure seems like they have released more licenses in the last few days than normal.

Re: April 2009 Applications
I was one of the lucky ones that received a letter from the DPS telling me that my applicaion was incomplete and inside the letter was someone else's application. It took several calls before they could tell me if my application was okay.

Been reading the board for awhile and finally decided to post. Misery loves company and this is the right forum for that.
