I have heard the young folks and socially liberal people where I work repeating this same type of incorrect information. We live in a society that has determined that evil and the devil does not exist.
Here we had an evil man, commit an evil act, so the news media and political system struggling to define what happened and assert blame without acknowledging the presence of evil. The obvious answer is to blame the tools the man used.
The human mind is remarkably creative, and a mind which has given itself over to evil will find a way.
How about enforcing the laws that already exist? A fair and speedy trial coupled with a speedy execution will honor the victims much more than bronze plaques and sad news reports.
