It's been a few years, but I've had success with the 175 grain Winchester silvertips on whitetails and hogs in Texas. 180/200 grain controlled expansion hollowpoints from double tap and underwood perform as advertised in my experience as well. My handload for hunting for the 10mm was a 180 gold-dot over 9 grns of longshot.... accurate and effective when I used them on hogs within 50 yds (the distance is based on my limitations/eyesight, not the cartridge ;-) ) As long as you stay away from the milder self defense loads, the 10mm is more than adequate for handgun hunting.
