Ya'll just made me remember that back in the 70's a friend in Goldthwaite, Tx killed a deer with a 20gauge and #6 birdshot, very close range of course.

Jeremae wrote:At typical indoor fighting distances the shot column does NOT expand very much so a load of birdshot is basically a 70 caliber frangible round and WILL kill if aimed properly. Now if the Goblin was wearing HEAVY (motorcycle leather grade) clothing there would be little to no penetration of the shot.

NO buckshot does NOT knock a goblin flying, simple law of physics for every action there is and equal and opposite reaction. does the shotgun knock the shooter flying?

Sorry if I sound preachy about this but it is one of my pet peeves.
:iagree: and less than a week ago I showed someone a shotgun pattern at 14 ft [ inside a room ] Cyl. bore, 24in. barrell, #9 AA's had a 4in. dense pattern with scattered shot to 51/2 in. A mod. choke would have been about half that.

Not nearly what most would think of a shotgun.

I don't know about penetration, I would think #4 to 00 would be good. but I'm not sure about bird shot.
I will check it out.
