From what I understand the Sig Pro is being phased out and is intended to be replaced with the P250. But I've also heard good things about them. I mean come on its a Sig. Not that it matters in any way but the Sig Pro is the gun in the safety deposit box in the first Bourne flick. I saw the movie probably 10 times before it clicked.

If you are going to carry it all the time, the sig is going to be pretty heavy, especially with a full mag of ammo. So unless you are using a shoulder rig, I would lean towards the polymer

I disagree. All I carried for a year was a Sig P229 .40 12+1 IWB. Wore it everywhere and all the time. And well, lets just say I'm one of those "hefty" CHL carriers. Like any fullsize it takes some adjustment. It didn't take long for me to even really notice it. Same for the P220. I carried that one a lot also. With a sinlge stack the 220 was a bit more comfortable. I am not saying the P229 was the best ccw ever but I will say with absolute confidence that I had no problems carrying it day to day. Anyhow, that's my experience.


Disclaimer: I am a diehard Sig fan and all references made to, for, or about Sigs should be taken with a grain of salt. I am totally biased and think Sigs are the GREATEST FIREARMS IN THE WORLD!!!!!!(except for maybe this new fangled P238 .380)

BZZZZT. DPS issues Sig's but the Rangers all carry 1911's. I don't know what the SS carries.

They may all carry 1911's but thats not what they are issued according to the following sources.
Being a division of the DPS, Rangers are issued the same sidearm as State Troopers.
