Re: Walther P99?

I have the latest generation p99 in .40 cal with the AS trigger. The trigger is great in SA mode, very light and short for follow up shots. When decocked into DA mode, it has a longer, heavier pull which I feel is safer for carry (although I couldn't say for sure as I am still waiting on my plastic). The gun shoots very accurate and is very comfortable. I have about 800-900 rounds through it without problem and feel the only downside is the cost and availability of the gun and accessories (I actually wanted 9mm, but couldn't find one anywhere at the time). I can see someone choosing glock on capacity and price when you compare the two, but this is a very well made, well designed pistol IMHO, so it's worth the extra $$. OF course, you'd spend more on a HK or Sig anyway.

Also, the newer models don't have the same bump on the trigger guard as the old ones. They also have improved triggers I think.
I haven't tried the QA trigger but I really like the AS version for the option of DA/SA. I really like the compact version for better carry.

Takedown for cleaning is super easy very similar to a glock as well.

Hope this helps. I'd let anyone try mine at the range in Houston if they wanted.
