Re: Best Tactical Movie
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. My movie library is pretty expansive, something like 300 titles and since I'm young, single, and have no children... They're more or less all "man" movies. Heat is a brilliant movie, definitely some great shooting going on. I was really hoping "...

Best Tactical Movie
Lately, all the action movies I've seen just kill me with the utter disregard for firearm reality. I just can't take it seriously when the actor has no idea what a front-sight is, or when somebody goes flying back 15 feet after being shot and busts through a wall. I'm really trying to find a movie o...

They're going to get the guy from "The Young Turks" to fill in. *shudder*
For those of you that have never seen any of his material, you're in for a reaaaaaaaaaal treat.

Re: Another poll
Yes it was a state settlement for a state U but "By accepting the proposal, family members gave up the right to sue the state government, the school, the local governments serving Virginia Tech and the community services board that provides mental-health services in the area.". Sounds too ...

Re: Lakeway Police: Respect My Au-Thor-I-Tay!!
There must be some pretty large budget shortfalls for the Austin area PDs.... They are like locusts out on 35 with all the speed traps. I drove to Belton just the other day and passed no less than 8 squad cars and 4 motorcycles between 183 and Pflugerville. I got popped last night in Round Rock, fir...

Re: Another poll
I used to be on the Drill team at UT and I carried a very realistic looking fake rifle in civvies all around the Main building (Tower) and nobody even looked twice. (I also never saw a UTPD officer en route to formation either). Even had I been there when the kid with the "AK-47" (there's ...

Re: Another poll
That's the thing about our litigious society. You may not be actually liable, but fighting the suit may end up costing more than just paying the settlement. That's what the "policy makers" are thinking of. Until it becomes more fiscally burdensome to deny a person the right to self defense...

Re: Another poll
Apparently VT was sued by members of the victims family. There was a civil suit against the University President which I believe was dismissed based off of Sovereign Immunity, could't find much about it. However, the University did pay $11 million to the families of the victims via a settlement to &...

Most of the article authors seem to be Canadian. Here I was thinking that your average American was a little slow..... Colleges don't want to allow students the right to defend themselves on campus because of the same reasons why large corporations don't want their employees armed. Hell, it's the sa...

Need a Novelty Gift - Gas Handle
My little sister is 16 and just started driving back in June. A couple of weeks ago she failed to yeild right-of-way and T-Boned another car. Today, my Father was driving my Mothers car and it died. Engine was skipping and running terribly, and then it wouldn't even start. My dad calls my sister and...

Re: Building an AR-15
Thanks for all the input guys. I think I might have found a good fit in the CMMG dedicated .22. It clocks in right at $500 and the lower is a full .223 that I can just swap uppers on. http://cmmginc.secure-mall.com/item/QUEBEC-.22-Evolution-Rifle-w-Low-Profile-FSB-1641" onclick="window.ope...

Re: New Revolver
I'm dead set on a S&W Bodyguard .38. It doesn't start with .4 but it looks like a really well put together package for concealed carry. From what I understand they are selling like hotcakes so I doubt you'll get any give on the ~600 price tag.

Building an AR-15
I'm really entertaining the though of building a really simple AR-15 for plinking out at the range. All I'm really looking to do is build on my fundamental shooting technique from different firing positions and have some fun. Since this is more of a practice weapon than a practical one, I'm going to...

Re: Driving and Cell Phones/PDA's
If folks really want safer driver and can't wait for better tech, one might look at why the German autobahn system is so successful. Sure there are parts that are overly congested now, but if you look at Rechtsfahren , it would really go a long way towards making us safer and improving traffic flow....

Re: Driving and Cell Phones/PDA's
There's actually quite a bit more technology out there than small scale industrial solutions. Lexus has a car out that can park itself, Mercedes has radar-guided cruise control, and DARPA has a slew of fully functional autonomous vehicles. Those scenes from Minority Report aren't that far away. link .
