Apologies if you heard me tell this before.
10 years ago, when things were better in Mexico, I went to Del Rio in search of the scenes from the movie No Country for Old Men, which I thought was a great film.
Not seeing anything familiar, I went into a video store, they still had them back then, figuring the owner or clerk would be familiar with the movie and where it was filmed in Del Rio.
The very nice Hispanic lady, said no, she didn’t think it was filmed in Del Rio. But cautioned me. Don’t go into Mexico. It’s not safe. She then described all the bad experiences she had had, including police shaking her and her friends down, etc. I figured if a Spanish speaking Hispanic woman was telling me this, what would befall a Lilly white city slicker.
No country for old men takes place in delRio and Alpine but was filmed in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Sorry no Mexico for me, even safe places like Cancun.
