Re: Taurus PT-917C

Okay, here's my take on the 917...
I LOVED IT. I am going to use it when I qualify for my CHL next year (unless I find something I like more, obviously).
It pulled down quite a bit (as you can see from my silhouette) but overall it was a pleasure to shoot!
I think mholcomb enjoyed it too, but I won't put words in his mouth...I'll let him tell you exactly how much he likes it. :)

Re: Taurus PT-917C

You should probably understand that my husband's body frame is more...accommodating...to large frame guns for carry. Smaller ones are much more noticeable. As for the weight, he likes the weight and it doesn't bother him.
Really, we don't look for guns "for carry" as in looking for a small, lightweight gun. We look for guns we shoot well with, that fit our hand, and that we can reasonably dress around. :) I just tend to go for the smaller frames so I can reach the trigger and he goes for the larger frames that fit comfortably in his hand.
He is able to conceal his Taurus PT92 with no problem, so that's not likely to be an issue with the 917.

I should add that we just got back from buying it, so the point is kind of moot now. ;) We're going to the range today (or perhaps tomorrow if today doesn't work out) so we'll let ya know how it goes!

Re: Taurus PT-917C

This is the exact model: http://www.taurususa.com/product-detail ... search=917" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It looks nice. Kind of dirty but not damaged at all - probably wasn't fired too much. Comes with one mag and nothing else, I'm pretty sure.
mholcomb has the Taurus PT92 (the Beretta clone) and was looking at getting the 917 because he wants a slightly smaller handgun but would like to stick with Taurus. The interchangeable mags between the 92 and 917 is a plus. :)

I should mention that any prices we've found for this model new have been between 400-500 bucks.

Any of that extra info help? :)
