Received my plastic on Thursday. My first "carry" was to my boy's baseball practice and then to the grocery store. Sorry - no pictures, I thought it would look a bit weird pointing a cell phone camera at my butt where I had the P64 concealed in the IWB holster! I carried the 1911 today at the store and I was very self concious of the pistol, but nobody seemed to notice. I guess its something you just have to get used to.
BTW - if anyone is looking for a good holster, I bought both my IWB tuckable holsters (one for the P64 - Walther PPK fits it - and one for the 1911) from DM Bullard in Azle. He makes a good product at a good price. He has about a 1-2 month backlog right now, but the quality is very good.

Re: August 2009 Applications
I do like the guns - especially old ones
Rifle and pistol shooting are my favorite. I love to tinker with guns - it really is an addiction, isn't it??

Re: August 2009 Applications
Rifles:
Model 1898 Krag (.30-40)
Model 1917 (.30-06)
Model 1917 Sporter (.30-06)
Model 1903A3 (.30-06)
Savage/Enfield No. 4 Mk1* (.303 Brit)
Winchester Model 70 in .270
M38 Mosin Nagant (7.62x54R)
Marlin 336 (.30-30)
Marlin 1895 (.45-70)
JC Higgins Model 31 (.22LR)
Savage Model 3 (.22)
Shotguns:
Rem 870 12 ga
Rem 11-48 28 ga
Pistols:
Ruger P97 (.45 ACP)
Taurus PT1911 (.45 ACP)
Polish P64 (9x18 Mak)
Colt Woodsman (.22LR)
Bersa 380 CC (wifes pistol)
I plan to carry my 1911 on most occasions and the P64 when the wardrobe won't allow the 1911. I like the P97, but its a bit thick for CC. I keep it close at hand for home use. As far as the "Wally Walk", we have a Walmart close by but I'm not in there very often. I suspect my first "social event" will be at the local Brookshires as that's where we typically shop:)

Re: August 2009 Applications
I've been lurking around this forum since early August - excellent forum and very informative. I have learned alot just reading through old posts.
I just checked the DPS website and it switched over to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active"
I figured it was time to finally join the forum!
I took the class 8/10 and mailed my app 8/11. Another friend of mine at work submitted his app in late July and had his plastic by late September. Another work friend who took the class with me called DPS last week to get his pin number and they told him his application was nearly finished.
Based on my personal experience and what I've been reading in the forum recently, it appears the DPS gridlock has started to unwind quite a bit.
