Re: Kudos to President Obama
So okay 2 years of Democrat Congress, so they only had 8 years where the could have passed ANYTHING they wanted, had the Supreme Court hold it up if needed, and have the White House back it.
Mostly the problem with the Bush whitehouse when it came to Economics is they wouldnt face reality. People were kicked out for suggesting the Iraq war would cost too much (And even then the numbers they gave were way to low!) Paul O'Niell was kicked out for warning people about deficits. Yeah part of the problem was the Democrat led Housing Bust, but lets not forget the Massive debt Bush put us in, and the Bailouts he signed before leaving.
The Iraq War was led badly, we should have sent more people in, we did NOTHING when they started Looting in the streets, we had no after action plans. It was a mess. Compound that with False intelligence, over-eagerness, the poor treatment of allies, it was a farce that cost too many people their lives.
Obama got elected because 1. He was Black 2. People were sick of the mess we had gotten in over the last 8 years 3. Sarah Palin.
Bush/Obama its more of the same with a different Mask on

What say you that?

I dont care if he seems like someone you could go bowling with, whats his Fiscal Policy, does he have an exit plan out of Iraq ect.
How about an exit plan for getting out of Germany? Korea?
I'm not sure WHY we are still in Germany, my sister says if you are an officer and you get stationed over there its kind of a dream gig. Nice houses, good food, better doctors, and you can travel Europe for cheap.
Would I be cool with us leaving? Sure. I just dont think the military WANTS to leave .
As for Korea, I dont have a problem, we never ended the war there and they are hurting in a bad enough way you will see them try something stupid. our forces there are just there to Hold out until the rest of the Military shows up from Japan.

Personally, I don't care if leaders are "smart" as long as they have the right values and some common sense.
Point to something you did and say "I did that"
Thats why I dont like Obama, he didnt do anything before being President. He just voted Straight Ticket and did as he was told
Thats why I liked McCain, he can point to things he has done ,Fiance Reform, working with Dems to get things done, being a party leader, doing things that were best for his people even if it upset the Republicans. Also he was a pilot, thats hard.
Values?
Like "Family Values"? Because I dont really care about that. And neither do they, Republicans and Dems both have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar when it comes to that.
I dont care if or where you go to Church,Temple, Synagogue, Teepee. Just tell us what you are going to do.
Honestly too many people will vote for Fools and Crooks because they support their pet Issue based on Moral issues (Abortions, Gay Marriage,Porn, Stem Cells) that they will have little say or effect on (Perry Militarizing the Border, it aint gonna happen).
If a Senator supports Cannibalism but has a brilliant Tax Reform plan, I'll vote for him over the "Family Values" Candidate who goes to 3 churches but has no real plans or ideas.

Presidential examples off the top of my head: Herbert Hoover, Obama.
Edit: When people say "smartest of the smart" I assume they're referring to the intellectual elite (professors, philosophers, etc.) If you're referring to someone with common sense, never mind.
But when it comes to Running a Country, I prefer people who know
1. the Law and how it "works" (There is a reason we have so many Lawyers in the government) the law is tricky
2. People who know how to lead people (Thats why you see alot of Military Folks running around)
3. Education helps but I can trade for Business Experience (a self made business man)
But dont rule out people with Education as a background. Theres nothing "wrong" with being a Latte Drinking "elitist". Also where you go to Church or what you do behind closed doors means NOTHING to me.
W. Bush was not an "Average Joe" he was an Ivy League Educated guy from Connecticut who used his Fathers connections to get jobs, influence. If he was your boss you would hate him. He's more Elitist than Hoover
Hoover was a successful Business Man, and an Engineer.
Lincoln was a Trail Lawyer, some say he was the greatest president
Most of the Founding Fathers were Intellectuals (Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson ect) They seemed to be doing a pretty good job, I mean this is still America right and not Canada or Britain.
