I agree, I have been guilty of this and am going to make my best effort to correct it.chabouk wrote:
So I guess my plea is this: instead of a "I don't know, but... " response, let's all take a few minutes to provide an accurate answer to the best of our abilities.

Been in those situations plenty of times. It's not fun at all.Keith B wrote: While this doesn't happen as much in the public forum as in PM, it has happened. Most of the time the post is deleted and the issue moved to PM with the OP.

I don't see it as sucking up one bit. Just recognizing hard work and dedication. That's not illegal!

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
What I'm trying to say is the members the mods discipline feel like they are being attacked by the moderators because they got in trouble. Or they feel like they are " Being held down With a bunch of restrictions". I have seen that mentioned here just recently.03Lightningrocks wrote:Other than your first sentence, I am not sure what your response has to do with my post. I haven't witnessed anyone attacking a mod around here. On the contrary, I see major sucking up most of the time. Heck, just look at this thread. If the mods aren't feeling tingles by now, they never will.shortysboy09 wrote:A very valid point that you make however. This would be a very boring forum if we had no diversity. If everyone here just parrots the opinion of the mods, it won't be long before this forum is back to 100 members again.
At the end of the day the rules are exactly what they say and the moderators job is to keep everyone within those boundaries to keep the forum civil.

I agree with your post to the letter. Off topic, but very good post.03Lightningrocks wrote:
Even in all this you and I have grounds for agreement. If the sign we are talking about is a 30:06 sign that is improperly posted, I can understand why you would want to crusade to get the sign changed. I am one of those folks who doesn't carry a tape measure, so I have no way of judging letter spacing or other details. I also don't carry around a copy of the exact proper wording, so if a few words are wrong, I would never know it. How I handle this is simple, I see a 30:06 sign and I assume I am not welcomed, regardless of the technicalities involved.
On the other hand, if I see a gun busters sign, I assume the place is simply trying to appease the masses. Maybe they just posted the sign because it was in the package of signs they received when they opened shop and it looked cool. What ever the reason, I see no reason to complain about the way the coffee tastes if I am not drinking the coffee.
I think we are off topic...LOL.

Seriously now.
Yes it is a lot of reading. I confess that in the beginning I had the time to help new shooters learn about arms, range time, gear & carry. One of the mods did the math a few weeks ago. During the day & evening we have to read & if necessary deal w/ a post a minute. At most there are 3 of us on the board at a time.
Thank you for the compliment.

Well, here's my question and this may already be in the works. Has Charles thought about expanding your staff? Maybe taking a few of your Veteran members and offering them more responsibilities here? I have about 3 members in mind that I have seen to be extremely knowledgeable and have been here for a long time.

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com
While I haven't been a member here for very long I have been a member on other forums as well as a moderator on one other one. I will tell you, these moderators have a lot of things to dig through and a lot of complaints to take care of. They basically have to scan every word we put on these forums to make it a friendly atmosphere and keep the peace.
This forum is controlled very well by the moderation staff and I have not seem one incident where they called someone out that was not justified. You would be hard pressed to find a staff that keeps everyone within the rules like this place does. That's the main reason I came here and stuck around. Someone asks a question and it gets answered. Not the 5 pages of joking around to sort through to get to the useful information. I commend every member of the staff here for a job well done in my short time here.
