Re: DPS Processing Times
Hey Charles, you need to add a new category for 30 days and under. A lot of us are getting them now pretty quickly.

Re: November 2009 Applications
Still nothing in the mail. And I'm leaving town tomorrow. Guess I'll just have to wait until Thursday. :grumble No dice for us either. Hubby had his holster and weapon, I had my camera...we were ready. Getting the mail was a big disappointment. We're also going out of town tomorrow but are going to...

Re: Need Suggestion
What about the Hi-Point 995 or 40995? Short barrel, uses pistol ammo. Sells for around $200. Not available at your local Academy, but surely you can find a FFL in your area.

Marlin model 336 .30-.30 lever action at Academy for $400. Only 6 shots but that should be more than enough. Here it is: http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/outdoors/hunting/firearms/rifles_centerfire&start=0&selectedSKU=0345-01686-0031" onclick="windo...

Re: Got the forms sent off to DPS. One question however.
Shorty - you need to start a new topic for December 2009.
Were you sending it Express Mail (overnight)? In that case you need to use their envelope. For Priority mail you can use your own envelope. I sent it Priority with a tracking number on Monday and it arrived in Austin on Wednesday.

No joy in the mailbox tonight. The holiday will add an extra day or two to the time.

Re: November 2009 Applications
Congrats Randomburst! I would guess nobody is working at DPS on CHLs on Thanksgiving. So likely the status changed yesterday. By my count that makes 7 or 8 forum members who were all approved on Wednesday. Kudos to DPS for pushing applications out the door!

Re: .380 ammo heads up!
Went to Gander Mtn. in Sugar Land when they opened at 3pm today. They had the LCP for $299.99 then for every $100 in purchases you got a $20 Gander gift card. So the LCP cost me a net $240. About 10-20 people came just for the LCP. I was second in line. Can't spend the Gift cards until tomorrow and ...

Check that. It rang up at $16.99 per box. I got 8 boxes total for the LCP.
