Re: Instructor Renewal instructions still incorrect...
Ok, I see. It seems like every year it is the same story from DPS. Change is coming. Yet it never really comes. I recall a long time ago they said the website would be overhauled. It was hardly changed much. Then they said they would mandate their own PPTs for coursework. Never did. Years later, not...

Re: Instructor Renewal instructions still incorrect...
Thanks RX8er, but I'm just renewing I already did the class and have been an instructor for 3 years now. But I did see a few late posts in that 2nd thread (ex. http://www.texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=62658&start=30#p773916" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) w...

Instructor Renewal instructions still incorrect...
I got my renewal notice and jumped right on it.. probably jumped the gun as I have like 8 months but oh well, too late, it's done.. Anyways, once I filled out the form online and paid, it gave me a checklist but the checklist said I had to send in a CHL-90 but that doesn't make any sense. I also che...

Re: New Audits have started.
Just got my call for Instructor audit too.. I spoke to someone named Marsha and she is going to arrange for a local auditor to contact me in the next few days. My partner also got the call, and so did my other friend who is an instructor. Guess it's that time of year? This is my first audit. ...

Re: CARJACKED!
I'm not sure a gun would have helped much here. Would he really have had time to draw? Let alone you're usually carrying things when you head from your house to your car, so full hands would also not help drawing a gun. Although you could throw an orange at the gangstas, right? :D Personally, I park...

Re: Blocked in while leaving bank
I have a similar story to share. Some years ago I was leaving the library on campus (I'm not making this part up!!) at about midnight and heading back to my apt about 5 blocks away. It was a poorly lit road but I walked it a million times. This was when I lived my life naively in the Green I think. ...

Re: Late night drive thru encounter....and no gun.
You did the right thing. Maybe he was innocent and you could have killed him? Could you have even gotten a (good) shot off from that angle (driver's seat with him coming from behind you) - I'm a lefty so it would be way harder for me than a righty but you get my point. Now if there had been a car in...

Wow, I'm just glad you didn't open fire on the open doorway (i.e. your across-the-street-neighbor's house)!!!

Re: CHL holder killed by police in Las Vegas at a Costco
Dang... Yeah, if you have guns pointed at you, don't go for the shirt tail or pocket, let the police do that! Very sad. A good story to share but sad that it has to be shared. :(

Re: robbed wasn't armed
WOW, that is crazy, but glad you got away and were thinking quickly!! Sometimes it is better to let the bad guy THINK they have the upper-hand. This is a tough lesson to learn once you conceal as you always think you want to draw right away but maybe it is not always the best chance you will get. Th...

Re: Deposits for your classes
This is a good topic. I, for one, am new to instruction, and I don't know that I feel confident folks will pay up front vs. move on to the next. Forcing someone to pay up front puts a lot on say your website. If they don't like it, and have to pay up front, they might go elsewhere. Anyways, just bum...

Re: Sugar Land mayor robbed at gunpoint in his driveway
Simple fix:
1. Use your garage, throw out all the needless crap you have in there now and park your car in there!
2. Close the garage door after pulling in (while monitoring your mirrors carefully) and wait until it is fully closed before exiting your vehicle.

Of course but I'm just saying, what if he printed, what if ... anything - you always need to be careful but could be MORE careful given the circumstance and what just happened yesterday.

Re: Ex-Employee revisiting old work place
You're taking a gun into your ex employer's office? Did you watch the news yesterday (Orlando)?? Just something to think about... You might end up dead - I'm thinking a lot of trigger-happy CHL'ers out there now just waiting to stop some irritated ex-employee coming into their office with a gun. Be ...
