Very true. Like really really lean beef.Abraham wrote:Carry-a-Kimber
I've heard that Axis deer meet is super tender and very tasty.
Is that right?

Wilson Combat SBR
Sent off in June to build a 11.3" 6.8 SPC. Finally got it back yesterday. Should have it finished this weekend. It's all Wilson Combat except the CMC trigger, Strike Industry controls and dust cover, PWS buffer tube and Magpul stock. Mocked it up for the pic. http://texashuntingforum.com/forum/...

Axis Buck in Junction
Shot this buck a few days ago while out at out place in the Hill Country. 160 yards with a 6.5 Creedmoor. 31" main beams but not very wide.

Re: AR mags
Compressing a spring does not cause wear, compression and decompression does.
I've probably got about 30 loaded mags at the moment. Around 15 223/5.56, about 5 300 Blackout, a single 5.45x39, and around 10 308/7.62. I have another 5 or 600 AR15 mags and 100 or so LR308 mags.

Re: Henry Rifles: New for 2017
Modern Henry rifles do absolutely nothing for me. Give me a pre-safety Winchester or Marlin or even a Rossi.

Re: AR10. To do or not to do
I have two large frame ARs, a 16" 308 and a 10" 7mm08. I use them both for hunting rifles. I also have a 24" match upper that only sees the range. The 16" with a titanium suppressor and loaded 20 round mag is really too heavy to walk around with for long. The 10" gun is slig...

Re: Finished/Tested: New 10.5" SBR
Very nice set-up. I really like the Spikes billet receivers and almost went with those but couldn't get over the price; went with a Wilson Combat billet set instead.

I've got a 5.5" barrel on my 22 sbr upper. Even with a suppressor on it, it fits under a 7" Fortis hand guard. Plenty short.

Yes to both. Scouting whitetail and hunting axis. The axis rut late May thru late July.RJGold wrote:Just curious if you were scouting deer, hunting non-indigenous species of deer, or if I missed some form of deer season that happens in July...???

Re: Shot a Few Pigs
They weren't but about 40lbs each. Left one whole and took the straps and hams from the other 3. Took an hour or so.Abraham wrote:I sure hope you had help cleaning them, assuming you harvested them.
While, cleaning them is not all that difficult, it (for me anyway) takes a lot of time.
