Ok, some people take the mag out, leaving a chambered round, think "HEy the mag is out ,,, I'll pull the trigger ... BANG ... ooops News headlines = "another person accidentally killed by an UNLOADED gun"


Mag disconnect is a "safety" that prevents firing with no mag .... disadvantage is when under attack, swapping out partially empty mag for a full one .... you can't fire that one chambered round if you needed to

Same as if you accidently hit the magazine release button ... now you are unarmed until you insert another, even though you have 1 chambered, you are defenseless ... For Newbies maybe it's good, I wouldn't buy a gun that won't go bang if I need it to ... but they install them for "liability" reasons ...

On the other hand, if a bad guy is holding the gun, and you are wrestling with him, keeping his muzzle away from you ... press his mag release ...

Many guns don't have mag disconnects ... read the specifications for your guns ... do not take a mag out and pull a trigger to find out ...

well golly gee whizzakers, I may need to get one then. but I really am trying to go "all" stainless and sell all blued guns I own now .... stainless is more forgiving when I take kayaking trips.. salt water splashed on a life vest which stays wet a few days while camping etc ...

I was considering looking at the Taurus 709 slim, but I'm more of a Ruger fan.

If it had the thumb safety that the PT709 has, and comes stainless, like the PT709 is ... I might get one for the house, it can keep my 709 band PF9 company.

(I actually carry the 709 though when I kayak ... it has a thumb safety/carried in a life jacket pocket.)


If no thumb safety ... it's just another PF9, which I should sell ...

I WISH makers would use a standardized dovetail for sights so I can put some tactical sights on the darn things and throw those "snagless" (useless) ones away. that I can't see.

I have my concealed carry license. I've been owning, collecting and shooting pistols for over 40 years. My eyes have Myopia, Presbyopia and have Astigmatism. I was born with only 1 hand, ending at the wrist, and previously had trouble safely racking the slide to chamber a round. I realize you made these sights for tactical purposes as in when one hand is “busy“ holding a doorknob/flashlight/injured or putting pressure on a wound so as not to bleed out; so that one could still rack the slide on a corner or a holster or belt or shoe sole to clear a jam or replace magazines etc., but I wanted to thank you on behalf of all the visually impaired one-handed people for making this fantastic set of sights we can use. I bought them for my Glock 19, Glock 26, Glock 27 and installed them myself and used the spacers and laser sighted them in and couldn't be happier with the results. Sight acquisition is phenomenally fast in all lighting conditions. As an added bonus, I noticed the tapered sides on the rear sight is more comfortable than any other sights as others have sharp corners that dig into my skin or holster while wearing my gun concealed. I'll be buying many more. Thank you again.
