Good choice. I like the way those fit my hand when I picked one up. :thumbs2:

Re: New Member needing help

Although the trigger is heavy double action like a revolver, my Keltec P-11 9mm is accurate, 12 round mag +1 chambered = capacity 13 (Kel-Tec P1136LE KEL Mag P-11 9mm 12RD) and the standard 10 round mag that came with it as spare
Honestly I never carry it since I got my Glock 26 ... not a bad "first gun" at all; mine has always been reliable, I bought it used off a Policeman who carried it off duty for about $175

Parkerized $238-275 new Hard Chrome is good too
http://www.google.com/search?q=kel+tec+ ... p%3A1&aq=f" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Later you can move up to a Glock or XD if you can't find a good used price now (Used is good with those because they never wear out after a bazzillion rounds, they just get easier to rack the slide and you only need to clean them in years that end with zero, and if you forget once, you can clean it the next time a year ending in zero comes around :mrgreen: )
Glock also allows "options" later you can change sights, adjust trigger pull and change to smooth trigger, change barrels basically anything you can imagine is aftermarket ... With original Glock magazines and Pearce PG39 baseplates my Glock 26 can use 9mm Glock mags with capacity of 10,11,12,13,15,16,17,18,19,20, 33 (I usually carry it with 20+1 and a spare 20 round mag, but sometimes with just a 15+1 configuration using a Glock 19 mag and spacer.) Glock 26 size is about the same as the Keltec P11

I'd rather see people get more capacity in a reliable 9mm ... I know revolvers are good and reliable, I just have my own personal issues with revolver capacity (buddy of mine, Officer Jeff Ginn of Pasadena Police Dept killed while reloading ... Adrenaline hand shakes don't "only" affect aim, but how well you can work your 5 or 6 round speedloaders or half-round clips or whatever you use) Also, spare mags are easier to carry than revolver speedloaders for me. That's just me ...

To be fair:
After Jeff got killed while reloading a revolver, I bought Glocks for my buddies on the Dept and My best friend used his twice on duty and didn't run out of gas either time, however I personally was in a hardware store being robbed by 5 men armed with 2 shotguns and 3 pistols and the problem I see is that criminals don't RSVP ahead of time alerting me how many friends they are bringing, plus the "adrenaline shakes" Jeff had (6 to ten feet away from each other and both the criminal and Jeff fired 6 shots, no one was hit, they both were moving/dodge and weaving the other's shots while firing). while Jeff was behind a tree trying to reload with shaking hands, the other guy ran into his garage, grabbed a carbine and shot Jeff in the head.. Shortly after, ...see above "I bought Glocks for my buddies on the Dept"

I know revolvers are great ,,, but that's just the "issues" I have. It's my own "issues" YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary.)

The Keltec P-11 is smaller and lighter weight than a revolver, 11 or 13 rounds instead of 5 or 6. Like I said, I have issues, but I'm not seeking counseling over my preference of a 9mm over a revolver, IV have both, but the revolver stays home where I have others I can grab instead of reloading.

I hope this doesn't start a 12 page "revolver versus auto" debate .... it's just me, and I said what I needed to say back in the 1980s, and again now.

Re: New Member needing help

That Taurus Compact for $329 that was $499 isn't too bad but you need to look and decide if it "fits" They run that on sale around holidays at the 329 price too
http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=c ... ad&pgNum=9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In actuality, it looks like it's a PT 609 Pro 9mm Parabellum aka Luger is the International version of our 609 TI-13, and used by many police departments in other countries. http://www.taurusarmas.com.br/pistola-t ... r-atirador" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Taurus guns usually shoot low for some people, for me they are spot on and I had to adjust/change sights on my Glocks because they all shot high for me ....

That's why you need to try before you buy if at all possible

Re: New Member needing help

Anyone I bought/Sold/Traded with through here I didn't think I needed to keep papers, I used to keep original receipt with serial number and which Police Officers I sold "used" guns to back in the 1980s ... I still have those .... maybe, never did need them again, actualy one officer's gun was stolen, I had the serial number, no one ever asked... no ATF contacting me nothing, I gave him the info, it never turned up though ... but I also have my tax returns back to 1969 and a lot will be shredded soon.

I am not keeping records I don't need to keep anymore ... My dad passed away and It took years sorting and shredding old stuff he kept so I'm not going to make anyone do that when it's my turn to go.

If anything ever does occur with a gun I sold, my answer is "I dunno where it is I sold it to a guy, he was between 5 and 6 foot tall, average build average length hair I forget the color, and he had blue jeans on and a red shirt when I sold it to him 5 years ago..said he lived in Texas somewhere but he wasn't wearing boots so I'm not sure." (Not my problem, I don't keep up with who gets the stuff I donate to Goodwill either) ;-)

TTU Bass Angler wrote:Yes I do live in Lubbock. I just used this screen name because I'm on the Texas Fishing Forum and its the same one. I don't know a whole lot about buying/selling firearms privately so thats why I asked.
I'm RPB on the Texas Fishing Forum too, I don't post there as much as I used to, and the kayak fishing forums got tired of me yakking about not being able to carry on US Army Corps of Engineers property so I'm giving them a break and just spending time promoting Campus Carry lately :mrgreen:

Re: New Member needing help

If the TTU means you live in Lubbock, Patriot Firearms on 49th street rents guns http://www.patriotfirearms.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
College students with a valid ID can shoot for $10 per day. You must be 21 to rent a gun or buy ammo.

FTF means Face to Face meeting someone selling a used gun and handing over cash getting your gun and shake hands and say nice meeting you goodbye .... that's the "paperwork" No forms, the selling party may wish to see that you have a CHL, When I do it we "flash" each other, then I know he/she has had background checks and as far as I can tell isn't in a street gang :lol: but I personally don't write anything down. If anyone wants receipts or whatever they "should" say it ahead of time. ( I can't see any reason for it .... if your gun is stolen and the ATF contacts me 20 years later even if I found who I sold it to on some dried up piece of paper somewhere they'd probably have moved ..not my gun anymore, if yours is stolen and you report it stolen, they'll call you instead of me if it's found, not my problem 20 years later keeping up with a car or anything I "used to own")

Taurus 24/7 in 9MM is only $297 at Bud's.
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=42679&p=514797&hil ... my#p514797" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

S&W Sigma 9mm $279 at Academy this week
Taurus 609B COMPACT $329 this week at Academy
http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=c ... ad&pgNum=9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Depending on your location, you may find good used here from someone here:
viewforum.php?f=20" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I prefer 9mm to revolvers, I like capacity, and the variety of 9mm types is amazing, although I carry Hornady Critical Defense and second choice is stock #23614 Gold Dots for daily defensive carry....in a Glock 26

Hold a couple see what fits your hand, THEN Check some ranges because:
baldeagle wrote:You can buy a brand new Glock 9mm for about $400 if you join the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation. You should shoot the guns you're interested in before purchasing one. Especially since you have limited funds, it would be a real disappointment to buy a gun only to find you didn't like shooting it.
