It wasn't posted. I spent much of the time playing "spot the gun".

I got a good laugh at the expense of the girl sitting next to me. She was a UT student and was against campus carry. She and I chatted a bit. Little did she know, her elbow was mere inches from my 1911 for about 30 minutes. I wonder if she felt threatened?
:smilelol5: "rlol"

What will be interesting to me is:

If later, car burglaries increase at private schools which opt out, and decrease at public schools where fewer guns will be "stored in cars" This will require informing criminals where guns are stored on the news again, which may occur when this goes into effect after it passes all stages :lol:

Re: Log-Summary of Campus Carry Hearing 750 out of committee

Caraway, Burnam, Walle voted no.

Here's the twitter version from John Woods' perspective
http://twitter.com/sgfstexas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(earlier today for it: Miller, Beck, Burnham, Driver (surprise), and Peña.)

Carraway was opposed prior to the hearing according to a woods supporter phone call early today
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=147321258663894" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

you know Burnam

Sometimes I wonder if State Capitol Metal Detectors caused any Legislators to go thru a chl class and see we "ain't so bad"

I liked Dr Holda's testimony and think if he didn't have to also represent the Junior/Community College organization he might have said even more positive things.

Re: Log-Summary of Campus Carry Hearing 750 out of committee

CWOOD wrote:I made it for the first two hours of the meeting. Before I left, the chairman, Rep. Sid Miller commented that after two hours of testimony, there were still more persons waiting to testify than at the beginning of the meeting.

I must commend the Chairman, Rep. Miller for his efficient, courteous and evenhanded conduct of the meeting.

It was so crowded that they had to open up TWO overflow rooms during the meeting.

There was LOTS of testimony but after 5 hours and 40 minutes HB 750 was voted favorably out of committee with a 5-3 vote.

If you would like to watch the meeting you can do so by clicking "Homeland Security & Public Safety Committee" on the following page:

RHenriksen wrote:So... HB 750 is headed to the calendar committe; its companion bill, SB 354, has been sitting in the criminal justice committee for 6 weeks. Any news from that side of the capitol?

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLook ... Bill=SB354" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
not yet

I"m thinking they are sending 1 at a time ... if 750 passes, others like junior college one/faculty only one isn't needed ...
so probably a strategy in all others not moving yet on Senate and House.

If 750 later gets "jacked up" send in the next, repeat until something happens

So the others left "pending" and inaction in Senate may be on purpose.

Re: Campus Carry Hearing Video Link

Now, ppl who missed can speed read and I have a clue what to address if I need to testify again in person or in writing of anything.

Seriously though, no "guns stored n cars, increased vehicle burglaries lately" except a few of our written testimonies?

I wonder how they read the written ones so fast ... if they did at all.

7:14 Colby Lee? reading 3 Virginia Tech Victims Testimony (1 2)

1) Susan Turner, a mommy of a deceased,
These are glad it was a gun free campus so their kids were effective targets.
Arming teachers makes teachers the first target

2) lilly Haftu
Student at some yankee state, not a taxpayer nor resident who wants to remotely control us and admits to getting an illegal CHL in Virginia.

3) colin goddard's junk, he guesses that if someone had a gun they'd give it to cho. and everyone will be suicidal

Study:
THe Israel ADOLESCENT rate of suicide decreased if they had no military weapon. so ddon't allow a chl on campus, it's a magical place.

Re: Campus Carry Hearing Video Link

I gotta say, in 1984, I was in college, in Houston, my mom was dying of Leukemia in Austin. I drove and took care of her and missed a mid term, prof wouldn't let me make it up, I had 32 As in a row, got a D in his class even after explaining the situation. Yeah I was furious, I ran into him years later, we discussed it, he said he didn't know I was serious, I was 30 years old about that time I think. I got over it, he got over it. we shook hands. I never thought of hurting the man.
