The new EMP measures 6.6 inches long. In effect, Springfield Armory has designed a 9mm 1911 pistol that is only slightly larger than a .380 pocket pistol."

I'd love to have one of those things.
:iagree:
Yup, we didn't expect to have a XD, but we just put a XD45c on layaway this week as our second carry gun. Felt good in the hand, similar to our G36, and the grip safety is a nice feature.
I prefer the 4" just because it makes more sense at the range; I don't need the challenge of trying to group with a 3", as I have enough problems with 4".... :smilelol5:

Will probably pick it up tomorrow evening; DynaBlue's still waiting on her plastic in the mail -- getting tense around here again. :banghead:

GOT IT!!!
:clapping:

DynaBlue picked it up at the PO box, where it's been since last week (postmarked the 13th, so I'll guess the 15th).
There was some mention of "Ransom" when she called me at work, but she gave it to me over dinner (at our favorite downtown restaurant -- I had a Mozart rehearsal at JH).

However, she is still in "Processing." We'll wait until next week before calling.
She doesn't like waiting. This is gonna cost me.... :grumble :waiting:

Mailed Packet 12/2/09
Packet Received 12/4/09
Pin Received 12/23/09
Processing Application 12/23/09
And now I wait....
Yep, I know. Sorry. Personally, I'm just very relieved that it all went right.

As I now sit with DynaBlue glaring at me, there are two things that may have (we're guessing) helped me:

* We pre-applied online two weeks before we took the class, and the PIN's came with the packets that were mailed to us. Our "Processing" status seemed to start quicker than those who didn't do the pre-app (and both went to Processing on the same day), so that may have helped.

* What we're fairly convinced is now making the difference between hers and mine: I already had fingerprints on file with the FBI, and she didn't. It may just be that they're having to create a whole new background file on her.

Anyone with a better understanding, please set us straight. Again, I hope everyone's comes fast (especially my wife's)!

Re: December 2009 Applications

[Repeated from the "Waiting Room" thread:]

Sitting in my chair, getting over the flu, glance at the (permanently open) Texas DPS tab a few minutes ago:

Application Completed - license issued or certificate active

:clapping:

Almost makes the flu worthwhile!!

DynaBlue is miffed; she always figured we'd get them at the same time, but hers is still "Processing." I suspect my FBI report was fairly quick (those every-five-year reviews are evidently good for something!).

:waiting: :greenfrown:
May be awfully quiet around here for a day or two (or hours, I dearly hope)....

On 12/21:

Sent the apps in this morning for Mrs. OldSchool (I keep asking her to register on the forum, but she won't decide on a user name...) and me.
The packets arrived at DPS on 12/23. Status today (12/29) still says "Packets delivered to applicant." Might not be anyone in the office during the holiday weeks, I suppose, so we expect an automatic 2-week delay. :headscratch

And, Mrs. OldSchool is now registered on the forum as DynaBlue! :woohoo

Two more checking in. Where's the coffeepot? :tiphat:

Sent the apps in this morning for Mrs. OldSchool (I keep asking her to register on the forum, but she won't decide on a user name... ) and me. Clerk told us it would take three days to get there. :yawn

Won't be a boring wait, as spirits are riding high: Mrs. OldSchool is still dancing on the ceiling after passing her pistol qualification with a .45 (well, me, too)!

11/21: Applied online.
11/24: Received vital help from TexasCHLForum.
11/30: Received packets.
12/19: Took CHL class.
12/21: Sent packets to DPS.
To be continued.... :waiting: :sleep
