This is also a good time to evaluate your state of awareness and color codes. Where was she that she came up to your vehicle as soon as you got inside?
Was she hiding? In the future, what can you do different?
To answer honestly, I will tell you that I have no idea where she came from. I did not see her when I walked to the truck from the store...I looked 180 degrees out of habit when I hit the threshold of the store. I believe she saw an opportunity when I looked down to snap the seatbelt. That means that she was close; perhaps she was behind a nearby column further down in the parking area.

The only things I could do differently is to look up and around when applying the seatbelt and park away from positions of cover opportunity such as columns etc. In a perfect world, I would have preferred to have my American Bulldog in the front seat of the truck as well...I would have known someone was nearby sooner.

Good point but it wasn't mistaken identity. Had she not had meth head teeth and that overall crack head look, I would agree with you. I may be profiling but...she fits the profile.

Yesterday's What The Heck Moment...

I had to run over to the nearest CVS yesterday and DID NOT take my pistol nor my dog as I was going to be gone "for a minute". When I came out of the store, I got in the truck and locked the doors out of habit. No sooner did it click, a woman tried to open the passenger door (forcefully) then decided to come walk over to my side. I yelled at her to back off and she did but at that point a truck pulled in directly behind me and she made a bee line for it and away they went.

Lesson learned.

Never again.
