FWIW: I just had this conversation with one of my Krav Maga instructors a couple of weeks ago. She said she is a LOT more afraid of somebody with a knife than she is of someone with a gun. The gun wielder may or may not have any training (and if they are holding it gangsta style...). If someone pulls a knife on you, its much more likely that they know what they are doing.
