Re: 1911 Shooters Thumb on/off Safety

I keep my thumb on top. Not sure if it helps my shooting or not, I like it as a tactile reminder of the gun's condition.

Re: Defensible Loads in Court Cases involving Self-Defense

Military use of FMJ is to comply with the Geneva Convention requirement for non-expanding ammunition. It is known for deep penetration. In self-defense I want a bullet that will hit the target, stop it, and not pass through with enough energy to do serious harm elsewhere. That's usually a JHP. Law ...

Re: President Trump signs EO to protect gun ownership

The federal firearms act in its entirety. The only constitutional part is probably the restriction against ownership by convicted felons, and states can legislate that on their own. I disagree that the restricted person ban is constitutional either, especially not for non-felons. But the part that ...

Re: Ouch this must hurt

Not all police officers are shooters and there are many who do not know anything outside of their issued handgun. I personally know a young man that graduated the Academy 16 years ago and he has yet learned another platform other than his Glock. I personally think it is a dangerous move to have Off...

Yes, where you are, and who is in your jury pool, can affect the size of the grey area.

Re: Legality of carrying in a school building

I mostly agree with Howdy, with a few personal clarifications. Several years ago I spent a fair amount of time studying this. As a parent and educator, I was on and around school campuses a lot and wanted to be on the legal side of the line. It isn't always clear, so I tried to figure out what I con...

Re: Texas State Fair Carry Rules

There is no reason to limit it to the state fair. As mentioned earlier, there are many activities that will ban carry for a one or two-day event.
It would be simple to include language that any entity leasing government property assumes all responsibilities and liabilities as the body of government.

Re: Prayers Requested

Excellent news!
Dad had his prostate removed at Ascension Providence several years ago and was also pleased with the surgeon, facilities, and staff. Getting back in shape will be tough - stick to it. It sounds like you have a great motivator!

Re: Texas State Fair Carry Rules

It seems to me that they are reading the parts of Paxton's opinion they want, instead of the opinion in its entirety. https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/opinion-files/opinion/2016/kp0108.pdf I have greatly simplified things, so somebody please correct me if I'm missing somethin...
