No safety, and a round in all six "pipes," but that isn't what got him shot. What got him shot was not paying enough attention to what he was doing. If you are going to carry, and possibly deploy, a pistol of any kind - revolver, semi-auto, with or without a safety mechanism - you had better be darn sure you're paying attention. Otherwise, leave it home.
