I have shot the XDMs and Glocks competitively. After using the XDMs, I decided to sell them both. I don't consider them _bad_ guns, but I didnt care _at all_ for the grip. I'm not referring to sight alignment, I'm referring to how well the grip functions when your hand is hot and sweaty, or cold and gloved. The wide "power strips" (or whatever you call them) on the XDM sure look pretty, but aren't very functional. Having recently used a G17Gen4, I can tell you that the new grip texture is awesome. It's definitely my preference and I will be rotating into Gen4 models as money permits.
That being said, my wife refuses to use a Glock (which is why I still have the XD-9). Some people prefer the grip angle (or the backstrap safety, etc.). As with all pistols -- shoot what works for you
