If it's for carry, don't get a conversion kit. Too many things can go wrong when you least need them to.Apothix wrote:Hey guys, I'm still pretty new to using pistols, so I wanted some advice from some of you more exp users.
I currently have a Glock32 with .357 and a .40 cal barrels, but the recoil and "punch" (can't think of a better word) behind it don't really work for me. I have to hold onto the thing so tight, the grip is uncomfortable and I don't really enjoy shooting it for more than a few rounds, also my aim suffers. This is probably due to my wrists being weak still and not being used to firing pistols much yet, I've been practicing, but I'm still working out my grip and trigger pulling techniques etc... Anyway, I was wondering before going out and spending the money... if I purchased a Glock32 --> 9mm conversion barrel (about $200) if the difference in recoil (9mm instead of the .357/.40) would be enough that I might not mind shooting it so much, or would you guys recommend just trying to sell/trade the Glock for something I am more comfortable with ?
As always I appreciate you guys feedback.
One thing you might want to consider is a "downloaded" .40S&W load. Federal makes personal defense ammo that has reduced recoil (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=227533" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
Another option is to see if somebody wants to "trade up" on Texas Gun Trader. Probably not your best option, but for personal defense, I never recommend anything other than what the gun was made for.
