Something like the comp-tac 2-oclock, or the comp-tac infidel might be more useful overall. I have used the Infidel (actually, it earlier counterpart, the Shirttucker) for years with a Glock 30. It is excellent for on/off situations you describe but is VERY discreet and easy to wear. I even use it at IDPA matches. Very fast to deploy if not tucked in and not bad when it is.

Comp-tac is not the only one to make such a thing but theirs have very good quality and excellent service.
