Our insurance company, State Farm, tracked down the address. I had the police confront the lady at her house and she confessed. USAA reluctantly paid for the damage, and did not apologize or act as though the person did anything wrong by driving away. I'm a member of the bank but not the insurance. They could have cared less. I took the car to the USAA approved shop and the bumper had to be repainted 4 times and was still not right. An inspector finally came out from USAA and again could give a hoot. Work was OK, but not great. They used fake bumper parts or refurb parts instead of new genuine Toyota parts. Probably devalued our car. Not impressed by USAA response and don't care attitude.
BTW, you have a right to take it where you want and to use original parts. Most insurance co's will tell you they have co's they work with, but I have always insisted on taking it to people I knew.
Might want to read your policy to be sure ..Id bet not all policys are the same in that regard.

USAA, state in the policy that a car over 2 model years old, will have used or remanufactured part installed as part of the repair when available.. Or wording to that effect. It is NOT your choice, it is there’s… Mostly.. Your right about the shop, that is your call, they cannot insist on a specific shop… which is where I get my new parts installed ..

If the body shop can not successfully make the repair with aftermarket, used, or recondition parts ,, USAA (the place I know best) will allow the body shop to purchase and install new parts.
Good working relationship with the body shop, and a good working relationship between the body shop and the INS adjuster is a huge help here.
IANAL.. but… what I can read in the policy, what the insurance company has stated, and what my family lawyer (criminal, not adlaw) is.. it’s in the policy, and very enforceable.

Have a read at the docs used to sign up a body shop into the USAA repair program

“You previously contacted us regarding our policy on concealed weapons. We regret that it's taken so long for a response, but our management team has provided the following:

The current Financial Center policy is an extension of USAA s San Antonio campus policy which does not allow concealed handguns in our Federal Savings Bank Lobby.

Based on member feedback, our Physical Security Department is now re-examining the policy.

It is our goal to provide quality products and superior service to all our members. We continually look for ways to improve our products and services for our members, and your comments will help us do so.

I contacted them a month or two ago letting them know I was considering changing banks as the signs (at their physical location on I-10 and Huebner in San Antonio...their HQ) are an insult to me as a CHL holder and as a prior service Soldier / Airman.

Let's hope this works out...

:thumbs2:

:hurry: :hurry: NICE JOB

What address did you use to send that letter?

We just had a USAA bank open in Killeen, and it too is posted. I stopped in yesterday and spoke to the manager. Wanted to know it that was local policy or corporate. He stated it was corporate.

Based on your response. I want to fire off a polite professional request for change or explanation as to why they chose to set this policy. If they are not interested in my business, or those other 20,000 soldiers I speak to on a monthly, yearly basis’s.. That’s ok, but I think they deserve the opportunity to explain there decision.
