Re: UT Campus Carry - Surprise!!
You do have to take into account that most of the media in the area shaping this battle is left leaning, anti-gun. The Statesman seems to be pushing it more than anyone in the news, and their reporters seem very biased and ignorant to much of the laws they're writing about. And in defense of the gun...

Re: UT Campus Carry - Surprise!!
"Semi automatic handguns must be carried without a chambered round Of ammunition". This is nuts. Does the law really allow the university regulate how a legally-possessed firearm is carried? I was thinking it was limited to "where." This is interesting: The report goes on to not...

Re: Texas HHSC New Gun Sign Law Goes into Effect
So I work with one of the 5 agencies in the Texas HHS family. And their policy states we cannot carry at work, but there's no legal implications. Right to work and whatnot. My irritation is that post they put out in the intranet (in our weekly HHSC Connection newsletter) was stating a law went into ...

That's why I started this one:

Find it a bunch of bull that the Commissioner (on his way out for a number of scandals) can set policy that supersedes state law.

Re: Department of Heath Services CHL OK?
Well, the confusing thing in all of this: WIC HQ at Howard Lane (behind Kiddie Acres) is not a state owned property from what I understand, rather it is leased. So it's a federally funded state agency inside a privately owned facility. Also, badge access or escort only, no general public access with...

Re: Gas Monkey Bar & Grill
I'll bite. I filed a complaint with TABC of a local hippie food joint in Austin that was posting 51% when the only alcohol they sold was bottled beer (for a burger joint). No pictures, nothing but "Location is displaying 51% Red signs at the door, and database states they should be blue". ...

Texas HHSC Commish: Employees CANNOT carry
Searched on here and haven't seen much on the topic. The HHSC Commissioner has a policy that employees cannot carry to work. Given it's a state agency, and most buildings they aren't holding governmental meetings such as court hearings, legislative sessions, etc., is this even legal (setting policy ...

Re: Department of Heath Services CHL OK?
Hate to bump this, but if you're going to WIC, they are a state agency that is 100% federally funded, so that's a grey area. Most of the other parts of the HHSC family of agencies are state funded, so they should be okay to carry.

Hey, not all of us are hippies following the newest trending internet memes (in this case, the flash mob). He was just doing his impression of the last time A&M played Texas.

Re: Saturday Night encounter
Blame the mayor and city council. Anybody who came from California to be chief of a large city's PD necessarily was chief of a large PD in California. This necessarily makes that person a liberal, since there are no large cities in California with conservative governments. Acevido was probably not ...

Saturday Night encounter
So to start this off, I was legally in the wrong here, and given the number of times I've broken the law while driving, it's probably Karma catching up, but: A friend's wife is turning 31 today, so we had a different kind of birthday party. We all met at a bar on the northern part of Burnet Rd, and ...

Re: Shall Issue bill introduced in Puerto Rico
Y'all need to get away from San Juan and visit Puerto Rico. I've been to both ends of the island, and Rincon was by far my favorite. Great people, hospitable, great food, and no issues. Funny thing was the cops there would roll around with their lights on all the time. Scares people enough to where ...
